Meet The Lodge Team
When you move to The Lodge, you can expect to make lots of new friends, but you can also expect to be treated like family by our great staff. To us, you are never just another resident. That’s one of the things that sets The Lodge apart, and it’s rooted in our Magnolia Manor philosophy of serving seniors in body, mind, and spirit. If you have already reserved an independent living residence at our brand new community, you’ve already met at least one member of The Lodge team.
If not, we’d like to introduce them.
John Sims, Executive Director
John’s lifelong career has focused on caring for seniors, from upscale living to long-term care, and he is no stranger to Magnolia Manor, parent company of The Lodge. In fact, you might say we have a magnetic attraction for him. Although his career has taken him all over, “he jokes that he has worked for Magnolia Manor in every decade since the 70s.” The next time, he plans to return as a resident!
Meanwhile, John fills a vital management role as Executive Director, but his overall goal is to “create life experiences for residents and teach staff about long-term independent living.” He ensures that residents will have ample opportunities for learning, entertainment, social activities, making friends – everything that contributes to the holistic experience which defines The Lodge.
John is married to his college sweetheart Angela! They enjoy the outdoor life offered at Callaway Gardens, especially the walking trails. Most weekends John can be found enjoying performances of The Schwob School of Music or The Rivercenter.
Tanya McVey, Marketing Director
“I’m responsible for filling it up,” Tanya laughs when asked about her role at The Lodge. She is doing a darn good job, too, and advanced independent living reservations are going very fast! The key is cultivating relationships, she says, explaining the unique lifestyle The Lodge will offer and how the team is committed to every resident. “It’s a wonderful vision, and it’s great to see it coming together!”
After years in marketing and management in the medical field, Tanya wanted to do something “more meaningful” – a position that allowed her to express her faith. She prayed about it, applied for a position at Magnolia Manor, and was invited to join the new team at The Lodge. “It feels good to go to work where I can have a Bible on my desk and where I spend my time talking with people and truly listening.”
Tanya is a native of the Chattahoochee valley. She is married to Keith and they have two children Kaleb (23) and Kalli (10). She enjoys reading, loves animals and spending time with her family.
